deep calls to deep

it’s a wild day outside the comfort and protection of my roof and four walls.  a flash of light brings an answering crash of thunder.  dark clouds, pouring rain, hail thrown down from the sky in a fit of rage.  and then as suddenly as it began, calm.  then a mist.  then a light drizzling, soft cleansing rain.

it’s like life.  like death.  our community lost a bright and beautiful light who is being memorialized this day.  and the weather is in perfect accord; a torrent of emotion.  the depth and breadth of sorrow, grief, mourning, despair, and a whisper of peace held on a prayer of faith.  the single candle that guides us through the darkest of times.  and when only tears come…when friends come together and nothing is said but the tears that fall…it is enough.  it is the perfect remembrance.  deep calls to deep.  our hearts speak a language when our minds cannot comprehend.  when words falter and fail to form.  in the silence of tears we know the depth of the ache, the memories so treasured, and the precious gift of life.  hold one another closer this day.  and tomorrow.  and the next.  farewell to an angel.  fly to Jesus.  {listen here}

    You have such an amazing way with words that makes my heart shout “Yes, that is exactly how I feel!”

    Wow, again I can relate. I have lost my Daddy and recently my Grandma in a month’s time and just when the pain is too much I start to cry and suddenly, life seems bearable again. Thanks for sharing and peace be with you!
