When you feel busy

hello my name is busy

Have you noticed a theme lately? More and more of us are apparently changing our name.

Is it just me or is it happening more and more, that you meet up with a friend or pass by an acquaintance and ask, “how are you?” the response is always “BUSY.”

When we ask someone how they are, we are most often concerned with the state of their heart and life.

We want to know the status of their family, not their calendar.

Busy is not a feeling. It’s not a state of our heart or our lives and yet it’s becoming who we most often are.

How often is that my response? If I’m honest, too often to count.

If I was being painfully authentic then I’d tell you that I need this challenge more than anyone.

Too often I’m running from one responsibility to another with barely enough time to get to the next, and cramming in all the other things in-between, in moments and half hours and running 5 minutes late.

Busy. I looked up the definition and it means to be: not at leisure or otherwise occupied; full of or characterized by activity.

It’s exhausting!

And we know that the best things of our life are born from the unexpected moments.

The moments where we had time to let fun happen.

The still, small moments that take up the most room in our heart.

And it’s horribly convicting when you know you’ve let someone else down or made someone else wait because you’ve become busy.

No longer just a temporary state of being, it’s now morphed itself into you.

Hello. My name is Busy.

The first step in our 31-Day Revolt Against Busy Challenge is taking a stand against the status quo. Deciding that this so-called status symbol is no longer suiting our needs or our lives.

Today’s Challenge: Decide today that you will not define yourself by “busy” any longer. It is not your name and it does not capture or define your life. Starting today, when someone asks you how you are, you can answer any way OTHER THAN busy!

This is day 1 of our Revolt Against Busy Challenge! You can sign up and find the homepage right {here}.

Challenge accepted. I won’t answer busy – and I won’t answer fine. Fine always seems like such a cop-out answer to me. I’ll choose to be authentic.

Tammy, this is such a great topic!! It’s amazing how easily our lives are filled up with busyness instead of making mindful intentions about what we’re really doing. Can’t wait to come back for more! Hopping over from 31 Days 😉

I love this so much! I found you via Pinterest and am doing #Write31Days as well, writing on Resting in Him! (I see a common thread here!)

Totally Karrilee! Life is getting so out of control, we do need to rest. In Him. So glad you stopped by! Happy 31 days. xoxo
