Prepare your mind for action

prepare your mind

We’ve officially embarked on a one-month REVOLT Against Busy!

Yesterday we began by determining our minds to stop defining our lives as busy.

To stop allowing that to become our first response when anyone asks us how we are.

We are not busy.

Sometimes we feel busy, act busy and sometimes we actually create busy…but WE are not busy.

We are choosing something else this month.

This month we are choosing still. Small. Sane.

Taking out some of the excess that is running us ragged, organizing and prioritizing the necessary things, and carving out room for stillness.

The place where the magic happens.

The next step is also an introductory one: Preparing our minds for action.

Even scripture tells us we must prepare our minds for action. If our minds aren’t ready then the first moment an obstacle comes we’ll fall back into our old habit of saying yes. We’ll squeeze it in, after all it’s just one more thing.

And we just one more little thing ourselves back into the status symbol of our generation: busy.

You see, we’re not just challenging ourselves just to challenge ourselves, we’re challenging ourselves to do something!

Preparing our minds for action requires a little processing. It take a little forethought to get our hearts in line with our heads. To get our minds ready for the challenges that will come so that we can get our calendars in line with our character.

Today’s challenge: Prepare your mind for action. Start thinking about the things that should go and the things that MUST go! We’ll target some of these things specifically later in the challenge but I want you to start thinking about the things in your schedule that are no longer working. The things that have become a burden instead of a blessing. What once seemed fun that now seems frivolous. Set aside 15 minutes today to jot down in a notebook the first things that come to YOUR mind. The things you’re going to say good-bye to over the course of this month so that you can say a great big fat HELLO! to some even better things. Tomorrow we’ll begin putting this list into action.

What a great idea. It can be so hard to slow down and enjoy the small things.
