Create a quiet place

creating quiet space

It’s quiet here.

I must admit that most days, this is my favorite place.

The place where I come to let my thoughts, imagination and dreams run free.

Because the world is noisy and with three little boys my life is loud.

Even my laundry is obnoxious.

The other night I heard the most dreadful banging racket to find my dryer full of rocks fallen out of little boy pockets.

And as lovely as that is and how sweet the memory will be, right now we also need quiet.

Quiet amidst all the clamoring noise demanding our attention.

Our time.

I think it’s important that we have a quiet place to retreat.

A space or a room or even just a chair or a bench or a park where we sit. Where we read. Where we listen to that still small voice trying to reach us above the noise.

Today’s Challenge: Create or find a space just for you. A space where you can tune out the noise, and tune in to your heart. A place that reminds you to be still. A place to practice solitude and rest. This can be a nook in your apartment or home, or a secluded bench or quiet spot in your yard. A place where you can hear the quiet whisper of your thoughts and dreams, too often drowned by the chaos of life. Find your spot and start creating a ritual of stillness.
